This Sunday is Mother’s Day (you’re welcome for the reminder (; ) We learn a lot from our mothers and have received some pretty valuable advice from them over the years. In honor of Mother’s Day, we went around the Z Palette headquarters and talked about the best beauty advice that we have received from Mom.
Zena - “My mom always told me when I was younger that I had nice shaped brows and to never pluck them. This was especially important to her since she did over pluck, as the times (70s era) had called for it. Now I understand what she means. I have to fill my brows in every single morning. A thicker brow does give a more youthful appearance.”
Bri - “My mom always would scold me for the following: 1) going to bed with my makeup because of wrinkles, breakouts, and clogged pores 2) tugging on my eyelid when I do my wing liner – once again because of wrinkles 3)Not using a moisturizer with SPF before spending a day under the sun ”
Dev - “No raccoon eyes. I feel like it’s almost a rite of passage with growing up…you know, wearing your eyeliner WAY too dark on the bottom eyelid and it’s all smudgy, yet you think that you’re a pro and that you look badass. Nope, you look like exactly what you are – a teeny bopper that has NO idea how to put on makeup. So the best advice that I have gotten from my mom was ‘you’re wearing too much eyeliner, it’s too dark under your eyes,’ but at the time my reaction was ‘nope, you’re wrong. I’m cool. I know how to wear makeup.’ Dear past me, listen to your mom. You don’t know how to put on eyeliner. Listen to your mom, she’s right.”
Blaine - “My mom never gave me much specific advice for makeup, other than to wear some, haha. She also taught me and showed through example the importance of a good and consistent beauty routine. She taught me to always wash my face twice a day, Don't wash my hair everyday, and to always make time for skin care and special treatments like masks.”
Danny - “My mom told me not to wear makeup…you know since I’m a guy and all. But in all seriousness, I do wear makeup on occasion (; ”
This Mother’s Day, be sure to thank your mom, grandmother, aunts, and any mother figure out there in your life.
Happy Mother’s Day from everyone at Team Z. Moms, you rock.
