On the Job at Oscars 2018 --
Posted on March 08 2018
The Oscars is a big deal in Los Angeles. Streets are blocked off, traffic is thicker than usual -- if you can imagine that -- and people host a lot of parties. You can bet that the likelihood of running into a familiar face is very high, whether it be a famous celebrity or just a friend. Everyone wants to look their best, so I try to stay prepped with all the makeup that I know works and even some extra makeup that I may want to play with for fresh looks.
I've had the good fortune of working the Oscars for the past five years. This year I helped get all of the performers ready before they hit the stage. It gets crazy sometimes in the back with all of the excitement and all of the wardrobe and makeup flying from one side of the room to the other! I love it though. We got all of the performers ready who were are part of the Miguel/Gael Garcia Vernal and Natalia performance. We also did all of the performers who were in the background to the Common and Andra Day performance and every background dancer to every performance! ☺

After the performers got on stage, all of the makeup artists love to exchange info and we talk about our beauty tricks and tips. We share any new products that we are using and it’s a good time to really get in to “makeup talk”. This year we literally placed our makeup on the floor and were going through it in this room in the back of the Oscars. We had a chance to talk about our methods and I told them how to save time when organizing all of the small stuff with the Z-Palette.
